DIY Watercolor Mugs

This DIY is so fun and simple I can't wait for you to try it.

What you will need:

  1. Mug(s) (I got mine from the Dollar Store but you could also try Good Will)
  2. Nail Polish (I recommend using Sinful Colors brand since it is only $2 at your local Walgreens)
  3. Container (Make sure it is something you don't mind  throwing away after use)
  4. Toothpicks
  5. Paper Towels

Step 1: Fill your container up halfway with hot water (I boiled my water but that is not mandatory).

Step 2: Pour a couple drops of nail polish into the water, making sure you are close to the water when making the drops, otherwise the nail polish will fall to the bottom.

Step 3:  Immediately grab a toothpick and start spiraling the nail polish around in the water.

Step 4: Grab a coffee mug and dip it in the water. Then just set the coffee mug on a paper towel to dry. And that's it.

Note: Make sure you do not dip your coffee mug in too deep because you do not want the nail polish area to touch your mouth when drinking. Also make sure to only hand wash the mugs.

13 Quotes for National Suicide Prevention Day

Suicide Prevention Day is today and I love how the non-profit organization TWLOHA is fighting to make it easier to talk about suicidal thoughts and just mental illnesses in general. I saw this quote on Pinterest a long time ago and it still sticks with me to this day. This quote said, "Be KIND for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." I just wish everyone was more open about their flaws instead of constantly hiding them behind closed doors and pretending they are fine when they are clearly not. I am guilty of this and I think it is just that fear of not being understood and looked down upon. Here are some more quotes that I needed to hear today and even if just one person is reading this I hope this hopes you as well. Please stay alive and remember you are not alone!

  1. "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." - Revelation 21:4
  2. "Be the kind of person who leaves a mark not a scar." - Unknown
  3. "Always leave people feeling loved and important."
  4. "You are not a burden. You are not too much to handle. You do not come with too much baggage. You are not only your 3AM mind, your pacing around your room, your doubt, your fears, or your mistakes." - Emily Ella, "Learning to Accept Love for Yourself"
  5. "Celebrate those times you are brave, no matter how small they may seem or what they may look like. If they took courage, even if that was courage to show up, to speak up, or to not be invisible, then celebrate that, my beautiful friend. Celebrate it. Every single moment. Every single act of courage." - TWLOHA
  6. "Surround yourself with people who know your worth. You do not need too many people to make you happy, just a few real ones who appreciate you for exactly who you are." - Unknown

  7. "Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs: the future can be better than the present, and I have the power to make it so." - David Brooks

  8. "The reason why people give up so fast is because they tend to look at how far they still have to go, instead of how far they have gotten." - Unknown

  9. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." - Psalm 30:5

  10. "Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around." - Leo Buscaglia

  11. "People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anyone." - Audrey Hepburn

  12. "You're not a mess. You're brave for trying."

  13. "Do not mock pain that you haven't endured."

Always Look Up

"Tell her something true when all she’s known are lies. Tell her God loves her. Tell her about forgiveness, the possibility of freedom, tell her she was made to dance in white dresses. All these things are true." - Jamie Tworkowski, If You Feel Too Much: Thoughts on Things Found and Lost and Hoped For
